MOMONDO – One of the best travel search engines. It searches hundreds of travel sites to help you find and book the flight that suits you best. It also includes the option of travel hacking fares. Worth to sign up for daily alerts to get regular update on your flights.

KAYAK – Recently most used metasearch engine that enables users to find and compare prices on airplane tickets. There are always interesting seasonal promotions and hidden features or airline mistakes. Try all of these engines and compare the prices at the end.

AIRBNB – I would recommend to start searching for accommodation on this website because it’s my personal favourite. Many homeowners advertise their homes for reasonable prices and this is the best way how to join this great community. Here is a gift from me  Airbnb voucher of €18/£13/$25 towards your next stay.

AGODA – Very good choice of budget hotels and guest houses worldwide with good rates. It’s very comprehensive website with all features. It’s worth to create a profile, write reviews and collect points towards your next accommodation.

EXPEDIA – Another good website with worldwide accommodation for reasonable prices, good deals and interesting packages. They also offer very good loyalty program.

FREE WALKING TOURS – Every bigger city we’ve been to offers a free walking tour provided by students or local guides. These people just love their cities and are happy to share their experiences and knowledge with other travelers. It’s a very good source of tips and advises where to go and what to see while in town.

VIATOR – Part of TripAdvisor portfolio, is the world leader in finding amazing tours, activities, and travel experiences in destinations worldwide. The Viator app is one of National Geographic’s “Favorite On-the-Road-Apps.

MONEY SUPERMARKET – Travel insurance is very important aspect of your travel and shouldn’t be taken lightly. It’s absolute must because you never know what can happen and when it happens it’s good to be covered.

  1. I often look for the cheapest airfares on Kayak, Expedia and Skyscanner before booking a flight, you’ve mentioned I few more that I’ll add to my list.

I’m happy to see booking com mentioned here too, I’ve been a few hotels and hostels with them in the past. It’s handy because similar to TripAdvisor, you can read other customer’s reviews and leave your own. Great if you want to see the parts of the hotel you don’t normally see until you get there.

I’ve never heard of free walking tours before but I think it’s a great idea! I’m planning a trip to Rome next year and I would love to do this! Thanks for the recommendation!

    1. Hi Simon,Many thanks for your feedback. I always use those search engines on my travels and they saved us lot of money so far.Free walking tours are great. They are usually run by local students and you’ll definitely find it in Rome. Every bigger city I’d say. We use them everywhere we go and always had good experiences. Once again thanks and all the best .
